Every time you put seafood on your plate, you're impacting our seas.
The SEA Needs a Break
Making smart and informed choices about seafood helps to preserve marine resources, protect endangered species, and ensure that future generations can enjoy healthy and abundant marine ecosystems. Let’s safeguard our seas for the future - starting with a simple yet crucial step: choosing sustainable and legal seafood products.
On average, each of us consumes 20 kg of fish annually - almost twice as much as 50 years ago.
We have reached a point where the high demand for seafood threatens marine ecosystems. Along with climate change, overfishing is the greatest threat to our seas, and we are already facing the risk of having no wild fish left to catch and consume in the future.
Although the situation is dire, there are promising developments. Stopping climate change is a long-term process, so we must reduce all other pressures to increase the resilience of marine ecosystems. Help us reduce overfishing and bycatch! Learn how to identify (un)sustainable seafood products!
